The question that guided my sustained investigation was: how can I raise awareness about sexual assault and the struggles of being a sexual assault survivor? I as continued to hear more and more about the epidemic of sexual assault, I wanted to encourage my viewers to stay safe, be mindful, and work towards helping survivors and decreasing sexual assault rates. I realized that, although sexual assault is a dark topic, it is necessary to be discussed, and representing it all visually has a special impact.

 

I have included sexual assault victims’ stories, haunting portraits, and provocative drawings all meant to stun my viewers. I want it all to be quite shocking, so the images and ideas represented are not easily forgotten. I built an immersive gallery box, so my viewers are surrounded by my artwork on all sides. My overall goal is to make my investigation as impactful as possible to raise consciousness on the issue.
